This was my introduction to The Carpenters - sure, I'd heard of them - but dismissed them as lightweight muzak - don't sneer, millions made the same error.

A couple of listens to this album, and I realised the depth of quality in the arrangements - and, of course, the wonder of Karen Carpenter's voice.

In some ways, this will always be my favourite Carpenters album - though my head tells me others are better. And I know of many people who met The Carpenters through this album.

Often unavailable as new (do try Amazon - just in case) - but the more recent "Singles 1969 - 1981" replaces this and "The Singles 1974-1978"
